How is my data safe?
DataShield works entirely inside your browser. Your documents, names, and masked output are never sent to any server — not to us, not to GitHub, not to anyone.
Prove it yourself (10 seconds)
Load this page, then turn off your WiFi or switch to airplane mode. Paste a document, detect names, mask them, and download. Everything still works. If data were going anywhere, this would break.
But this app is hosted on GitHub?GitHub only delivers the app code to your browser — like a vending machine handing you a sealed notebook. It has no idea what you write inside. Once the page loads, GitHub is not involved.
What about the image scanning and PDF reading?Image text extraction (OCR) runs via Tesseract.js and PDF reading via Mozilla pdf.js — both run entirely inside your browser. No cloud processing. No uploads.
Can anyone see what I paste here? No. There are no analytics, no tracking, no cookies, no accounts, and no server to receive data. You can verify this by opening your browser's Network tab (F12) — you will see zero data being sent out.
What happens to my data when I close the tab?It disappears completely. Nothing is saved to disk or memory. The next time you open the app, it starts fresh.
